We have an urgent opening with one of our client Royal Bank of Scotland (Gurgaon)


Position : Software Engineer

Experience : 3-8yrs

Location: Gurgoan




A team member role in the Platform Operations Support Organization to provide systems administration support to all UNIX and other associated infrastructure managed by GBM Technology including capacity management, support and associated toolsets to configure and monitor the environment: SUN Solaris, HP-UX, Linux (RedHat), VMWare (ESX), NetBackup.

Requirements

ACCOUNTABILITIES PERFORMANCE MEASURES

• Day to day support of Production and Independently provides platform
development database environments and operations support for Unix
resolve daily support calls in a timely manner Infrastructure ( Sun Solaris and Red Hat )
whilst adhering to the defined procedures / SLAs. VMWare ESX Farms and Veritas Netbackup
Infrastructure independently.

Adheres to change management policy for
all production related incidents and change.

Timely reporting to TL on call status and escalation on issues impacting business.

• Provide and maintain the overall Independently handle and deliver work
operational quality, service delivery and assigned.

Adheres to OS security policies while
Working on any database request and issue.

• Understand and develop skills to follow the Work closely with Team Lead to understand
Engineering Roadmaps for UNIX Platform. and build technical expertise as per

Training requirements with Team Lead.
• Liaison with appropriate application Supports and builds relationship with
development representatives to optimise value Global Infrastructure and App Dev
to the business and to ensure a consistent approach. community.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

• 2-5 yrs of extensive experience on Unix System Administration.
• Good analysis skills
• Good spoken and written communication skills
• Pro-active and capable of taking ownership of tasks.
• Self-starter and comfortable in multi-tasking


Technical Expertise


• UNIX: SUN Solaris, Linux (RedHat) – and associated HW platforms
• IPMP / Bonding
• NFS
• Jumpstart / Kickstart
• DNS / DHCP
• UNIX Volume Managers: Veritas Volume Manager, SUN ODS
• Cluster products residing on UNIX platforms : Veritas Cluster Server
• NIS implementation
• Package creation on Solaris and RPM on Linux
• Shell scripting/Perl
• Working knowledge of EMC (or similar) enterprise storage systems and associated features: SRDF, BCV, Powerpath
• Implementation of projects for the upgrade or refresh of enterprise infrastructure
• Strong operational process management expertise, experience of ITIL or other IT operations frameworks
